Dec 14th 15th, 2018 in Antwerp: ZOOLOGY 2018 conference on the Anthropocene

Added Thursday 20 September 2018
Dear zoologist colleagues,

    Sorry for cross-posting. Do not hesitate to spread the news.

    On the 14th and the 15th of December, the ZOOLOGY 2018 meeting (December 13-15) will take place back-to-back with the FWO Kennismakers meeting @ZOO (https://www.kennismakers.be/en-gb/home/) in Antwerp that will host a special theme on the Impact of Climate on Ecosystem services. Please note the location has changed as we have decided to celebrate their 90 years with FWO and FNRS.

    In addition, a workshop on basic skills for young scientists (networking, paper writing, reviewing, presentation feedback) will be organized on the 13th of December by the RBZS Young Zoologists Group.

 The general theme of the ZOOLOGY 2018 meeting is “ZOOLOGY IN ANTHROPOCENE” with two special sessions:

  1. “Crossing borders: why and how biologists and climatologists must speak together”;
  2. “How animals face global change: plasticity, resilience, adaptation”.

As usual, the congress will also welcome ALL CONTRIBUTION FROM THE FIELD OF ZOOLOGY, from the molecule to the biosphere. Thematic sessions will be organized depending on received abstracts. All zoologists, at any stage of their career, are very welcome to participate actively during the whole meeting, and young scientists are particularly encouraged to contribute (especially to the Young Zoologist workshop).

Confirmed keynote speakers are:

  • Hilde Eggermont (Belgian Biodiversity Platform),
  • Eelke Jongejans (Univ gNijmegen)
  • Andreas Wilting (ZOO Berlin).

The floor will also be given to the Kets prize winner.

Registration starts today! Please fill out the attached registration form and send it to Zoology2018@uliege.be. You will also find attached the practical information sheet including key dates and deadlines about registration and abstract submission.

IMPORTANT: Please also register for the back-to-back FWO Kennismakers event, given that the first ZOOLOGY sessions will take place at the early evening of the 14th.

SECOND REMINDER: For the first time this year, RBZS will attribute 3 grants (500 euros) for small internship, field trip or congress assistance. Dead line 30 October. Infos on RBZS.BE

We look forward to meeting you at Zoology 2018.
